Message Our local Z club finally had its own dyno day recently since Edmonton FINALLY got a shop with a Dynojet 248C!

We brought in 10 cars of a variety of generations on Saturday.

First a quick background. The night before, I tried the boost leak test (Spongerider's method). I found no leaks on the driver side. However, I did find that I had at least one leak on the passenger side. I didn't have a stethescope and it was at the back of the engine bay somewhere, possibly a vacuum line off the back of the plenum, the EGR valve, or even the AVC-R pressure sensor. ?? Very hard to get to, so I couldn't locate or fix it.

My car is an SGP Stage 6, base timing was around ~14.5-15 degrees, and boost varied between 1.05 to 1.08 kg/cm^2 (14.9 to 15.4 psi).
Mods are:
ASP Underdrive Pulley
JWT Pop Charger & ECU
B&B 2.5" Exhaust
Greg Dupree 2.5" Downpipes & Testpipes
Greddy Intercoolers
Apex'i AVC-R Boost Controller

Run #1 (Blue)
348.5 rwhp & 382.2 rwtq
I used my [A] program (1.00 kg/cm^2) on my AVC-R, however the peak hold on my avc-r at the end displayed 1.05 kg/cm^2 (~14.9 psi) (boost spiked... because of the boost leak?).

Run #2 (Red)
349.2 rwhp & 376.7 rwtq
Used the [B] program (1.05 kg/cm^2) this time, peak hold afterwards displayed 1.06 kg/cm^2 (~15.1 psi). Wait time between runs probably wasn't long enough as you can see the torque starting to drop off, probably due to heat soak. The engine was left idling, and the wait time probably wasn't even 10 minutes.

Run #3 (Green)
347.6 rwhp & 368.1 rwtq
Went back to the [A] program, peak hold still ended up being 1.06 on that run. Further heat soak it seems... another cool down period too brief, engine still running, etc.

At that point, everyone including the shop staff really wanted to see me hit my magic number, 350 rwhp. So we decided to go for what I joking called my "cheater run". They gave the car an extended cool-down period, maybe ~ 15
minutes, with the engine off, added an extra cooling fan, and sprayed some water on my intercoolers.

and....

Run #4 (Purple)
353.4 rwhp & 387.8 rwtq
This was back on the [B] program, and boost peaked to 1.08 kg/cm^2 (~15.4 psi)

Anyway, overall I'm quite pleased! I achieved my goal of approximately 350 rwhp.

I'd appreciate if the Z tuning gurus could comment on my dyno graphs (Greg D., Kyle P., Zhound, etc.). Am I making sufficient power based on my mods?

Here are some pics of my car on the dyno:

I know, I know... gotta fix that damn antenna! LOL

Here are some more pics of various Z's that day.

My friend Gord's beautiful pearl white 350Z, barely broken in.

This 73 240Z has an LT1 V8 w/ 6 spd.

This 240Z has a widebody conversion and an old carburated V8 from a Monte Carlo.

Brand new Pearl Yellow paint. Nice!

Waiting to dyno...

All in all, the day was a blast. As the import scene in Edmonton continues to grow, more shops open up, and our Z Club gets bigger and bigger, we will slowly achieve some civilization here!! LOL Now all we need is the equivalent of an SGP Racing or Specialty-Z up here!
